June Weave Pole Workshops with Finley Richgels

June 10, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Join us in an exciting training as Finley Richgels gives us new inspiration. She is from Canine Sports Zone in Middleton Wisconsin. This is going to be a FUN, fabulous, and fast paced weave pole workshop! Finley teaches and trains in a professionally run agility facility where she has had years of continuous influence from many high profile agility coaches here in the U.S. and many other countries. She’s been in agility since she was 8 years old and has now competed in world team at the European Open twice. Finley’s dogs, as well as all the dogs at CSZ, have been trained to do weave poles in the channel/guide wire method. She is an expert in this area. She focuses on confidence, speed, independence and reliable performance. She uses methods that help dogs learn to enter into poles at speed and stick to the commitment of the 12 poles.

There will be 2 workshops:

Workshop #1
Time: 10:00am to 12pm
Setting up success to close channels incorporating open channels w/guides.
Workshop #1 is for those practicing the channel weaves with their dog currently but have not yet completed the basic training. These dogs can be at an open channel, however, they need to be able to run through the channels with some confidence along side their handler. We will be working with the clear guide wires and the channels to increase drive and performance. In this workshop we may begin closing the channels further but the main focus will be teaching the dogs confidence while shaping complete and reliable focus in the poles.

Workshop #2
Time: 1:00 -3pm
Advanced Weaving to build reliable, independent performance
Workshop #2 is for those who’ve completed basic weave pole training with their dogs. The teams in this workshop will work on better focus on getting in the entry independently and  strengthening performance start to finish without popping out.  In this workshop the main focus will be getting independent weaves and driving through completely with confidence for  your dog in areas that include distraction and distance.  This workshop is for all dogs who have been trained in any chosen method. Every team will be coached with their individual needs in mind. We will be using a set of channel closed weaves and can be opened for individual needs to aid in certain exercises.

There will be * 7 working spots and 5 auditing spots in each workshop.
